Wiccan, Witch, Wicca and Pagan Ritual planning guide using planetary correspondences. Sun Signs and ritual timing chart. |
Sun Signs and Ritual Timing chart
It is important to know when the best time is to perform rituals of all kinds, such as consecrating an item like a talisman or amulet, working a spell, or a prayer for something in particular.
You can prepare for the right time by using the following charts.
Determine the need for the
ritual - let's say that you are going to court and want to have a candle burning ceremony to help prepare yourself.
Example
- First, select the best day for the ceremony from the first chart. We'll say it's an accounting matter and use Wednesday (you could use Sunday which is appropriate for all legal matters but we'll use Wednesday for this example).
- Now go to chart two and find which planet rules your sign. Let's say you're a Cancer and you're ruled by the Moon.
- Now go to chart three and find the best time on Wednesday to perform the ceremony. There are instructions
at the bottom of this page that explains how to use chart three. Using the example in those instructions,
the first time on Wednesday I should use for my ceremony (because it is the hour of the Moon) would be the second daylight hour which falls
between 8:12AM and 9:08AM (see instructions). Of course I could also wait until the 9th daylight hour or until the
4th or 11th hour of darkness by calculating those times.
- Once you have your day and hour calculated. Get everything ready so you can begin on time.

**These are not actually hours but periods of daylight or dark. To determine the
actual length of an "hour", find the time of sunrise and the time of sunset and divide by 12. For
instance, if sunrise is at 7:15 and sunset is at 6:30 then you have eleven hours and 15 minutes
of daylight.
For the actual sunrise and sunset times in your location you can go to the U.S. Naval Observatory website and
get the actual times for just about anywhere.
- 11 hours X 60 minutes = 660 minutes
- 660 + 15 minutes = 675 minutes
- 675 minutes / 12 time periods = 56 minutes per time period (round off the seconds).
The first daylight hour begins at 7:15AM and ends at (7:15 + 56 minutes = 8:11AM),
Hour two begins at 8:12AM and ends at (8:12 + 56 minutes = 9:08AM),
and so on until the hour of sunset.
To use the hours of darkness you would do the same exercise but would calculate the hours between sunset that
night and sunrise the next morning and divide the hours by 12 periods. Hour one at night
would start with the time coinciding with sunset and go thru the number of minutes you calculated for each period.
