Wiccan, Witch, Wicca and Pagan Pagan ritual instructions - Moon Ritual. Ritual and Spell Working, Love, Magic, Money, Witchcraft Spells. |
Moon Ritual
Before beginning your ritual, read this page. It will provide you with a method of casting a circle and consecrating your sacred
space. It will also list the different items you need for your altar and how to end the ritual with the cakes and wine ceremony.
Being a solitary, these recommendations for celebrating Sabbats have been altered to suit me and my immediate family. I have written these pages as much
for myself as for you so that I have a quick reference when planning my Sabbats. But, these are only recommendations. You
can add or subtract from them to create your own unique and special way of giving thanks and celebrating the turning of the wheel.

Moon Rituals, or Esbats, are held for different reasons.
(1) Since most Wiccans reserve the Sabbats for celebration and feasting, the
Esbats are used for doing the workings: spells, consecrating amulets and talismans and asking for the things we need in our lives.
(2) To show respect and love for the Goddess in her various roles as Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
Moon rituals are normally performed at the full moon and during the new moon but can certainly be held at the other phases of the moon. For whatever reason you decide to have a Moon ritual, do so as often as you desire.
Set up your Altar with the usual items. I like to include a silver candle to represent the Full Moon Goddess entity. I also like to use a crystal
or wand with a crystal point for this ritual to help focus your energy. Consecrate your circle and return to your Altar. Pick up your wand or crystal point and hold
it in your power hand. Raise your arms and hold them above your head and invite the Goddess to join you in your circle. Quietly wait for a
few moments as you contemplate the power the moon holds over the earth and it's inhabitants; the ebb and flow of the tides and the fertility
cycles of woman. Honor the Goddess by stating your appreciation of her influence over your life.
When you are ready, this is the time for the workings of the craft and to ask for help with the things you need. Don't be afraid to ask for the things
you need, remember: "An it harms none, do what you will". But don't expect that those things will be given to you without your involvement.
Ask for what you want help with and then plan how you will accomplish your goals.
Work should probably only be done on one thing at each ritual so that all of the energies present can be focused on it.
When your work is done, perform the cakes and wine ceremony. Since you probably won't be going on to a feast it is appropriate to
take your time over the cakes and wine and prolong the enjoyment. Don't forget to close the ceremony at the end and return the contents of
the libation dish "To the Goddess!"
