Pagan Wiccan Pentacles and Pentagrams
The first known uses of the Pentagram are found in Mesopotamian writings dating to about 3000 BC. Pentagrams were used symbolically in ancient Greece and Babylonia.
The five points of the Pentagram had an astrological meaning, representing the five planets Jupiter, Mercury, Mars and Saturn, and Venus as the "Queen of Heaven" (Ishtar) above.
The five points of the pentagram were believed to represent the five elements by the ancient neo-pythagoreans and were labeled as such.
Later Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and others, recognised the letters as being the five beginning letters of the words: udor (water, often transliterated as hydor), ge (earth; Agrippa used gaia), idea (idea, as in the Platonic Idea) or Heiron, eile (heat, sometimes written as heile), and aer (air).
- Hydor, water
- Gaia, earth
- Heile, heat (fire)
- Aer, air
- Hieron "a divine thing", Spirit
The pentagram has long been associated with the planet Venus, and the worship of the goddess Venus, perhaps because every eight years, stars form a nearly perfect pentagram shape around the zodiac of Venus.
The Pentagram has magical associations, and many Pagans and Wiccans wear pentagram jewelry and incorporate the symbol into their belief and practice.
A Pentacle is an amulet used in magical rituals, on which is etched or engraved the symbol of the spirit or energy being evoked. It is often worn around the neck, or placed within a sacred circle, usually on an altar. Protective symbols may also be included, a common one being the five-point Seal of Solomon, called the Pentacle of Solomon. The Pentacle or Pentagram of Solomon is also known for being etched or engraved with the sacred Tetragrammaton which signifies the many names of God.

The script around the outside of this Magic Pentacle is said to be a relic from the Atlantean days.
These magical letters are thought to be connected to the Cabalistic Enochian Script
of the Elizabethan astrologer and magician Dr. John Dee.
Also called the “Runes of Honorious” and the”Witch’s Runes”,
this script is very popular among the elemental crafters of today.
These very ancient runes have been used from time immemorial as a magical alphabet
from which spells and inscriptions were written.
The powers of these magical letters are protected by the pentacle they surround.
