Celebrating Mabon
Before beginning your ritual, read this page. It will provide you with a method of casting a circle and consecrating your sacred
space. It will also list the different items you need for your altar and how to end the ritual with the cakes and wine ceremony.
Being a solitary, these recommendations for celebrating Sabbats have been altered to suit me and my immediate family. I have written these pages as much
for myself as for you so that I have a quick reference when planning my Sabbats. But, these are only recommendations. You
can add or subtract from them to create your own unique and special way of giving thanks and celebrating the turning of the wheel.

Mabon is the Autumn equinox, the other time of the year (besides Ostara) the day and night hours are equal.
Mabon is celebrated on or around September 21st and marks the end of Summer. Henceforth, darkness will reign. This is the festival referred to
as Harvest Home.
Decorate with the things of Fall: pinecones, acorns, winter squash, pumpkins and gourds, and at least one apple and sharp knife, orange, red
and brown candles.
Cast your circle and welcome the Deities. Pick up the apple and the knife. Take the knife and cut the apple crosswise through the stem. Hold
a cut half up and view the pentagram described by the apples seeds. Speak words to the effect that "The seeds in the apple's center show how the
apple and all life as we know it contains the seeds of it's own future and the ability to reproduce itself." Thank your Deities for providing
this blessing. Place a slice of the apple in the libation dish.
Spend some time in meditation and then a prayer of thanks.
End with the cakes and wine ceremony and enjoy your feast.
