In China and Japan, however, dragons are generally considered friendly creatures that ensure good luck and wealth.
The traditional New Year's Day parade includes a group of people who wind through the street wearing a large dragon costume. According to an ancient Chinese belief, the dragon prevents evil spirits from spoiling the new year.
